I bought this camera primarily for the microphone. I have heard that the sound quality does degrade faily rapidly, however, if you mount the camera much higher than shoulder level. If the quality of picture is paramount however, buy a DVR that's good enough to reproduce that same quality. I have it mounted about 7 feet off the ground and can hear almost everything within a 60 foot radius. The only drawback is the infrared lights. Louder sounds (dogs barking, airplanes flying over, cars driving by, people screaming, etc). I was told it worked well and it really does. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the picture both during the day and at night via infrared.
can be heard at much greater distances. That sounds extreme, but it's true. The DVR I purchased doesn't do this camera justice. They produce a slight red glow at night making them somewhat visible.
I just received the camera and it was the wrong camera. They delivered an inferior camera, the 43CIR. When I called to return the item they tried to sell me the camera I ordered for a much higher price. If you already ordered this camera, make sure you have the correct camera.If you are thinking this is a good price, well it is only because they are shipping a different camera.
This CCTV camera is one of a very few that offers audio. and is priced very reasonable. and easy to install :)I installed this camera for a friend which helped her Ex Son Inlaw get 90 days in the local county Jail for violation of the protection Order they had against him :)A picture may only be worth 1,000 words but a video can get you 90 days or more.lol
I have tried several cameras in this price range all different brands and I think this camera does well during daylight, but in the dark it does not. The LED's seem to only light up the center of the image and the edges are dark. The less the contrast the more washed out the image is at night.The mounting bracket is a little hard to work with, but it allows many different positions which is good. I also liked the size of this camera not to big to hide under eves.
But the bracket is hard to tighten up without messing up the camera position. The only complaint I have is the odd mounting bracket.
But this camera is the best I've used ever. It has a far wider view angle.
Generally Lorex is my favorite brand for security cameras. Colors (yes color) can be determined in the dark.
So it's perfect for home use. What surprised me the most was that it has great visibility in extreme darkness.
It allows the camera to be mounted from top, bottom, or off any angled object. Aside from that, this is one awesome camera.
